This is not a pass/fail score. A complete report can still describe a system that must not be used.
- The system is identified: Appliance, fuel, flue and inspection level—not just ‘the chimney’.
- The finding has a location: Which part, which flue, and where the photograph was taken.
- Images support the finding: Labelled photographs or video references that you can match to the report.
- Access limits are explained: What could not be seen, and whether further access or assessment is proposed.
- The recommendation has a reason: How the observation leads to the proposed work, including relevant manufacturer instructions or requirements.
- Options and uncertainty are recorded: Alternatives considered, unanswered questions and the reason for the preferred scope.
- The written quote defines the work: Materials, quantities, access, exclusions, disposal, permits and changes to price.
- Return-to-use instructions are explicit: The professional's written instruction about use and any work or checks needed first.
