Information you give us
If you submit a company profile request or contact us, we receive the business and contact details you enter, including your name, email, phone, business name, service area and message. We use them to review your request, maintain the directory and reply to you. Approved business details may appear publicly on a company profile page. We do not sell submitted contact information.
Correction requests
The correction form stores your name, contact email, page URL, description and supporting source in our private administrative queue. These submissions are not automatically published. We use them to investigate and respond; a receipt confirms storage, not acceptance. Abuse prevention may temporarily process a hashed network address. Requests are retained while reasonably needed for editorial follow-up and administration.
Public company data
Some directory information comes from businesses and public sources. Business names, service descriptions, locations, websites and public contact details may be displayed so homeowners can compare chimney sweep companies. If a company profile is inaccurate, contact us with the company profile URL and the correction.
Private homeowner worksheets
The Chimney Passport and Inspection Evidence Notebook keep your entries in the current page unless you explicitly save them in this browser’s local storage. Saved entries remain on this device until you delete them or clear site data. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to load them. Downloads are stored wherever you choose. Worksheet entries are not submitted to our server.
Technical information and cookies
Hosting services may process IP addresses, browser information and request logs to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We may use aggregate site analytics to understand which pages are useful. If analytics or optional cookies are added, this policy will be updated to describe them.
Sharing and retention
We share information with service providers only as needed to host the site, process submissions and respond to requests. We retain submission records while a company profile is active or reasonably needed for editorial and administrative purposes, then delete or anonymize them when no longer needed.
Your choices
You can ask us to correct or remove a company profile, or to access or delete personal information you submitted. We may need to verify that you are authorized to make a request for a business.
